Simon graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1992. Since then (and even before then) he has worked and experienced almost every corner of the theatre sound industry. He has served time in the sound departments of the Royal Court, RSC and the National where he held the post of sound supervisor. In 1999 he joined leading British sound design and rental company Autograph where he stayed for 11 years. In 2010 Simon returned to freelance life.
Alongside designing sound for theatre Simon has also written music for several shows, produced various soundtrack albums and mixed numerous EPK and radios ads for plays and musicals. He has also lectured at several drama schools and his paper on sound effect design is used as a teaching aid at USC School of Cinematic Arts California.

Simon is an associate artist at Kneehigh Theatre and has created and devised many shows with them including Brief Encounter (London, Broadway and International Tours – 2009 Olivier Nomination for Best Sound and 2010 Tony Nomination for Best Sound), Don John (RSC and Tour), The Red Shoes (Tours), The Wild Bride (Tours and also adapted for Radio Four), Steptoe & Son (Tours – including score), The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (London), Wah Wah Girls (Part of Sadlers World Stages for 2012), Midnights Pumpkin (BAC), 946 (returning to the Globe Summer 2016) and most recently The Flying Lovers of Vitebsk as well as various events and pop up shows. He was also responsible for the sound design for 4 years of Kneehighs nomadic home The Asylum.He is an associate artist at The Old Vic London for Matthew Warchus.In 2016 Simon will be working as part of Emma Rice’s creative team at Shakespeare’s Globe. He is a Fellow of The Guildhall School Of Music and Drama.
